Sanctuary
Mission:wolf was created as a Sanctuary for wolves trapped in captivity. Our motivation is to provide the resident wolves as natural of a life as possible. We located the refuge far from people, fenced in large areas of diverse mountain terrain, and provide the wolves raw meat on a feast and famine schedule similar to wild conditions. The result is M:W is not only a sanctuary for wolves but it has become a sanctuary for people and horses too.
Wolf Sanctuary
In America alone, it is estimated that over 300,000 wolves and wolf-dog crosses are currently living in captivity. Many of these animals do not survive to maturity, due to inadequate care and the difficulties of raising a wolf or wolf-dog in captivity. Because of this, we strive to be able to provide the wolves in our care with as natural a life as we can, in the hopes they can teach us all why wolves belong in the wild, and not in a cage.

Horses
Originally Mission:Wolf began accepting donations of dead or dying livestock in order to provide meat for the wolves. Over time we have expanded to take in a handful of horses that for different reasons have lost their previous homes. These horses in combination with a small herd of Egyptian Arabian Horses serve as teachers for those people wishing to learn more about horse behavior and how it compares with wolf behavior and so on. At this time, we have facilities for up to four rescue horses, and are working towards building a new, larger horse barn to expand our capacity.

People at Mission: Wolf
Although Mission: Wolf was created to help the wolves, we quickly learned that we were helping people more. Young people thrive as they learn not only how to care for wolves but to live in a family group and create community meals. Solar energy and sustainable living techniques keep everyone active. Experienced professionals have a chance to offer their skills, and some, are even brave enough to teach a teen how a power tool works to create something useful. From teaching volunteers tool use and self-motivation, to working together to solve practical problems, volunteers develop a respect for themselves, their peers, and the works of the other volunteers that came before them
