Mission: Wolf's Programs
EDUCATION vs. EXTINCTION
The dramatic and diverse reactions that humans express in the presence of a live wolf is one combined of fear, intrigue, ignorance and arrogance. The wolf is one of the most controversial species throughout human history - In an instant the mind flashes form the fear of Grandmother and livestock eating beasts to admiration as the creator of our best friend the dog and the symbol for wildness. The connection a person has to nature is realized when a wolf takes time to greet them - eye-to-eye.Experiential Education has become our trademark. Today - many folks have little to no practical experience how things work nor do they have experience how to build with their hands. It is not because they do not want to - it is because they have never had an a opportunity to do so. M:W allows all people a chance to help without restriction on how much experience or money they have. It is truly an experiential journey here - one that you create.
The Travelling Ambassador Wolf Program
Each spring and fall, we travel across America with our most social wolves. For twelve weeks, our wolf bus covers 15,000 miles, teaching tens of thousands of people about wolves and the environment. Meeting a wolf face-to-face at our programs cannot be compared to videos, books or photos.

Experiential Education at Mission: Wolf
Experiential education is our trademark. Visitors at the sanctuary learn about wolves and ecology, but also get a chance to pitch in and work with their hands. Mission: Wolf is fueled by an increasing public demand for simple living, sustainability, hand-on work experience and immersion in nature. We encourage youth and adults to become more aware of the world around them and to become stewerds of the environment.

Horse Education
For years we have provided short-term housing to sick and dying horses that serve as our meat supply for the wolves. These horses along with our own small herd, have become teachers to many. We study horses to understand and respond to body language and realize that the wolf, the horse, and most other animals share the same behaviors.

Volunteer Internships at Mission: Wolf
Mission: Wolf is run entirely by a community of volunteers who live on-site. Visitors are also welcome to stop by and volunteer for an hour or a week. We seek highly motivated and capable volunteers to staff our sanctuary. Our volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and contribute a wide range of skills and knowledge. While we do not require prior experience working with wolves, we prefer applicants who are comfortable around animals.
